5 Sweaters You Need for Fall

One of my favorite parts of fall is getting out my sweaters. I love a cozy sweater - and shopping for new sweaters.

Here are a few of my top picks for fall sweaters.

1. Leopard Cardigan 

This fun printed leopard cardigan will dress up any look. It can be worn with jeans, a skirt or even a dress.  This sweater is another almost identical option for under $40.  Leopard looks great with so many colors, but I especially like it paired with black jeans and a off white tee/tank.

2. Chunky Turtleneck

This chunky monochromatic sweater would be perfect for a fall weekend.  I recently bought this chunky turtleneck sweater - and I love it!

3. Cozy Cardigan

This cozy cardigan would be perfect for layering over a tee and sitting around the house, plus it is under $50!

4. Bold Sweater
This bold colored sweater is the perfect fall color - and would make a statement, plus is comes in four other colors and is under $50.

5. Plaid Sweater/Poncho

 I am not sure I would technically call this a sweater - more like a poncho - and it is under $50 and would be so fun for fall.

How to Wear: Red & Blue

I usually think of pairing red and blue together for a patriotic holiday, such as Memorial Day or Fourth of July; however, recently, I have started to see this color combo as a fashion trend. Although, it was seen on the runways back in Fall 2011, it seems to be more common today. Also, I got some inspiration from this look of Diane Kruger. The blue is less navy and more cobalt and the red, more of an orange-ish hue. What do you think of these colors together - would you wear it? I am debating it - although, I might try wearing my cobalt blue pumps with a red top or jacket.

What to Wear: A Floral Spring Look

Loft shows the look with a caramel belt and shoes. This is a little too matchy-matchy for me, so I thought I would change it up with black platform heels. They still have a brown heel, which ties in with the belt color but is a little less heavy than an all black sandal. I thought I would add a clear statement necklace with a coral accent ribbon, which is a steal at H&M for $7.95!

With the official start of baseball in a few days, I thought I would do a post on baseball jackets - which are a trend this spring. My favorite is #2 - I like the leopard print and the perforated neon sleeves. I have never ordered anything from Shopbop. One of my favorite trends recently is the statement necklace. For the past few years, I have worn mostly long chain necklaces, but recently, I have started to wear the shorter, bolder necklaces. At first, I was afraid to wear them because I thought they were too showy or gaudy, but now, I am glad I gave them a try. I like how they add a focal point to an outfit and add different pops of color. They dress up any outfit - from a basic tee to a dress. If you are looking for a cropped printed jacket this spring/summer, I have found two options - an investment piece by Helmut Lang or a more budget-friendly option by The Limited. I like the Pheasant print (or somewhat snake-like, as it looks to me) of the Helmut Lang jacket with the solid black panels; however, I like the mix of reds/greens/blues with the black and white of The Limited jacket. I don't think you can tell in the picture, but The Limited jacket has a satin (more shiny) finish. Also, it is only $36, which is mark down from $128. If you want to try a printed jacket this season, but don't make the investment, I think the Limited jacket is a great option.

One trend that was big in the fall and is still big this spring is ankle strap heels. I have yet to purchase a pair, so I shopped around and found a few options that I like. I like the high back of #1, 3 and 4, but the mesh detail on #5 or the stacked cut-out of #2 is also cool. What do you think - which one is your favorite?

The black and white trend is all over the blog world (I even did a post on it recently), but today I thought I would add a twist by throwing pink in to the mix. The color combo of pink, black, and white, especially in stripes seems to be another big trend this spring.
