Burgundy, evergreen, and gold are my three favorite colors for fall, especially the mustard colored yellow.  As seen here with my $25 fuzzy cardigan, which also comes in a rust color.  Also, how cute is the yellow and black plaid bag.  It also comes as a tote and a cognac/sherpa-like canteen style.

Also, this week I picked up this coat during a 40% off sale.  I really, really hope it works.  I have been looking for a wool coat for a couple of years and have not been able to find one I like, so I have been wearing my puffer and leather jackets.

I am starting something new - each Friday I will share five different random things - they may be funny, inspirational, fashion-related...

1. Wednesday marked the first day of fall. Where did summer go?  I cannot believe it is fall already.  With fall, comes pumpkins, apple pies, and this fun activity - I think I could make it through one of these.

2. Halloween will be here soon - and these are some monsters. Some of them are larger than my entire garden - there must be something in the water.

3. London Fashion Week was this past week and this was one of the trends, which happens to be one of my favorite time periods for movies.

4. The other day when I walked into work, I noticed that the van parked in front of my office said FBI - with closer inspection I realized it wasn’t quite what I thought.  And, I asked myself - why?!?

5. I led a small group at church this week - and I focused on the Lord's prayer. The one phrase that stood out to me was forgiveness, and being able to forgive those things that have hurt us.

I hope you all have a great weekend!  The weather here is supposed to perfect fall weather!

I am back wearing my flare jeans again! I love the higher waist and look of flare jeans.  My suggestion is that if you are going to buy one new pair of jeans this fall, I would recommend buying a pair of flare jeans. If you are little skeptical about the bell bottom shape, you could try a slightly flared bootcut. It gives a slight flare, but not too much. One big point to mention is the hem length. Mine in these photos is a slight bit too long - you want them to graze the ground, but not rest on the floor. Also, you do not want to go the opposite - and too short. There is nothing more unflattering than high-water flares. The good thing about flare jeans (that skinny jeans do not do) is they elongate your legs, especially when you buy a higher-waisted pair.

Also, I have to mention that my "favorite" yellow or mustard-colored cardigan is only $25!  I also love this rust color.  These would be perfect for layering this fall.

I have linked some budget-friendly flare jean options below. I just might buy these - I like the darker wash.

Also, some budget-friendly mustard-yellow sweaters for fall. This one is my favorite.

I thought I would change things up today - and change these photos into black and white.  I like the way they turned out - it is something different from the typically color.  Taking photos and shooting black and white photos - I truly enjoy.  I could spend my days taking photos.  It is one thing that comes so easy (without a lot of thought) and I enjoy! (Thanks to my mom for taking these pictures.)

Oh, and if you are a blogger and take photos - I am sure you can relate.  So, after shooting most of these photos - I realized the one "button" on my button-fly jeans was not buttoned.   It never fails that something is a little off - when taking pictures!  Always an adventure...

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
A safe rule of thumb: in one room you can mix one geometric pattern, one small scale or stripe, and one organic (floral, paisley, etc.) among your rugs, upholstery, pillows, and drapes. Please, please don’t use three geometric patterns in one room.

Have a great day!

Fall Style

 SHOP THE LOOK

This is one of my favorite looks from last fall.  Layering a sweater over a shirt is perfect for transitioning into fall and unpredicted temps.  I love how the cropped sweater works with the pop of the red plaid shirt underneath.  Also, I typically wear tall boots from fall through winter.  I have linked a lot of similar items for this look - the shirts, sweaters, and jeans are all budget-friendly options - around $25-$50.

SHOP THE LOOK

This is another one of my favorites from last fall - especially the mustard yellow paired with the leopard print.  Again, I am layering a shirt under a sweater.  Also, I remember this day when I thought I had almost lost my wedding rings (again!).

SHOP THE LOOK

Over the knee boots are again a big trend this fall - both heeled and flat versions.   I think I would add this poncho or leopard print bag to the look - when I wear it again.

#LOFT Style Event

SHOP THE LOOKS

When I got an email that #LOFT was having a STYLE EVENT sale, I wanted to share all the new items I found while looking around online. I shop at Loft for sweaters. I typically buy a few cozy sweaters in the fall and in the spring a couple of lightweight cardigans.  I am always eager to see their fall sweaters since that is my favorite style season. Also, Loft has the best utility blouses, which wear and wash really well. I keep buying them because they are perfect for layering or wearing on their own.

Loft typically has great sales - so I am always wait until I can get at least 40% off. Today, Loft is offering 40% off everything (Code: FallStyle) - including all items! I set a budget and did a little shopping. I picked up this sweater, blouse, and coat.

Here are a few of my other top picks.

JACKETS

SWEATERS

TOPS

JEANS/PANTS

DRESSES/SKIRTS

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Together we will face whatever each day brings: pleasures, hardships, adventures, disappointments. Nothing is wasted when it is shared with Me. I can bring beauty out of the ashes of lost dreams.

- Jesus Calling

To be totally honest, I am a little bummed today. #NYFW starts this week, and I am excited to check out the runway shows online, but to be there in person would be an amazing experience. It is hard to escape the reality that other bloggers have been invited and are in #newyork. Not that I am not happy for all those that get to go - I am - what an amazing opportunity for them, but that does not mean that deep down I do not feel disappointed. I would love the opportunity to go, and I am hopeful that one day I will get invited. I keep remembering that it will work out if it is supposed to. I have faithfully posted on this blog for three years, and I attended Parsons for Fashion Design - and if it is to be - it will work out. For now, I am going to focus on being thankful for everything I have and especially to those that faithfully read and commented on my blog - thank you. Today, my goal is to focus on the good things in my life.
