Sweaters on My Wish List

If you have followed my blog very long - you may have noticed that I LOVE sweaters.  I live in sweaters all fall, winter, summer, and spring... pretty much all the seasons.  I love cozy, chunky sweaters in the winter.  And, most recently I have been on the hunt for a retro hand knit fair isle sweater - like this one or this one.  I am still looking - and have not found one - if anyone knows of any place that sells them - let me know.

When you are shopping online have you ever wondered how different pieces may go together - well, H&M has this fun "Try On" dressing room feature that does just that. That is how I created the three styled looks today. I wish every store had this feature. It is a great way to see what something looks like when shopping online. The only draw back is that sometimes I would like to see the jacket open and not zipped/buttoned up or the boyfriend jeans rolled up.

The black and white trend is all over the blog world (I even did a post on it recently), but today I thought I would add a twist by throwing pink in to the mix. The color combo of pink, black, and white, especially in stripes seems to be another big trend this spring.

I love Betsey Johnson's fun, quirky style... I found these pumps and thought I had to style an outfit around them. Since the pumps have so much color (pink & yellow), I opted for a neutral black top and added a little pop of color with the fun, circular clutch. Also, I thought this was a cool bib necklace.

How to Wear: Leopard Print Flats

Aren't these leopard print flats cute? (Not to repeat myself, but I love leopard print paired with orange and red.) Since it has been extremely cold lately (in the negative digits), I like to dress in layers, and I especially like this trend of a buttoned shirt with a pullover sweater. How to Wear: Pencil Skirt

When I wear basic colors like white and black, I like to add a pop of color. I typically wear a lot of neutrals, so color is a way to make an outfit more exciting. For those like me that shy away from too much color, I tried to put together two combinations that added just enough pop of color.

Topshop Grid Print Panel Midi Skirt sold @ Nordstrom

For this look, I paired the grid patterned skirt with a classic white button (an essential in every wardrobe). I added a boyfriend cardigan in black and some studded bracelets. For a pop of color, I added the candy pink suede pumps. I am not a big pink person, but I think these are a fun color, and I like how pink pairs with white and black.

For this look, I kept it simple with a satin trim cami (another wardrobe essential and the ones from The Limited are great. If you have not tried them, I would highly recommend them!) and black pumps. I added a square necklace in gold, which mimics the grid pattern in the skirt. (Note: The Limited always has great necklaces, for reasonable prices.) For a pop of color, I added a tile blue cardigan, which could also be dressed down with jeans and flats.

Deal alert: Tweed Shift Dress

Deal alert: Loft is offering an additional 50% off all sale items! One item in particular that I thought I would share is this tweed shift dress. It comes in Autumn tween (red) and black. I can't decide which color - I like them both! One sale it is $35 - which is too hard to pass-up.

Loft pairs it with hot pink booties, which might be a little much for work, but fun for a night out! For work, I think I might pair it with the following:

#1: Tights
I love my Spanx tights. I have these reversible tights, which are black on one side and charcoal on the other - perfect because I get two colors out of one pair of tights. Also, I bought them during one of Ann Taylor's 40% off sales, so they were a great price. One of the top reasons I like them is because I am notorious for running tights. I usually get one wear out of them, but these tights are durable and run-resistant! I highly recommend them, and you can't beat a little control, too!

#2: Necklace
To accessorize, I might add a long tassel necklace, like this one.

#3: Turtleneck
On top, I might try a turtleneck. I like the way this looks, especially for winter to stay warm.

Other than a turtleneck, I might pair it with a blazer. For a more casual Friday, I might add a leather moto jacket and for the weekend, possible a denim jacket.

#4: Shoes

For shoes, I might wear black pointy pumps or black booties, or even my tall boots -- depending on the day and weather.

Option #1: I love this J. Crew sweater and its bold colors. To tie into the accent of blue in the sweater, pair with these great blue suede boots from Nine West. For a more neutral look, add black wedge suede booties.
