Five Things About Me

fall outfit style blogger striped fuzzy cardigan

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a fun and relaxing weekend.  I spent part of my weekend shopping for home decor.  I finally decided I needed some help picking out artwork.  Minted has this service where you send pictures of you home - and they pick out artwork.  It was helpful to get an outside perspective.  I am looking at this abstract picture for above the sofa, and this one above our fireplace. And, this picture - which is one of my favorites - for above our white sofa.

Also, today, I thought it would be fun to share five things about me today.

FIVE THINGS ABOUT ME

#1: I have an undergraduate degree in Biology.  I have always had a fascination with science, so much I asked for a microscope for Christmas one year. I also picked biology because it was a challenging major. I didn't know what I wanted to do with the degree, so I took a mix of classes in environmental science, pre-med, and biochemistry.

#2: For my "day" job, I am a Digital Product Manager.  I have done this job for over 20 years.  As the title says, I manage digital products.  I have worked with a major publishing company for many years - developing educational products.  In this last year, as colleges have moved to remote learning - the products we develop have become even more important and in demand.

#3: A few years back, I spent part of my summer in NYC studying fashion design at Parsons.  It was one of the best experiences. It was challenging - and so rewarding.  I will always treasure the time I spent in NYC.  When I was in NYC I rented this AirBnb place in the West Village.  And, you can read more about my designs that I created and my experience.

#4: I got my one and only speeding ticket on this road nicknamed - Devil's Backbone - when I was in college.  You can see in the picture the speed limit of 35 mph.  Well, when I came over the hill at 50 mph - I was met by a cop - and I didn't have much wiggle room to get out of that one.

#5:  I was a cheerleader in high school.  One of my favorite part of cheering was not the actual cheering part - but dancing.  We didn't have a dance team - so when the band played at the football game - we danced.  I still love to watch choreographed "hip hop" dances - and this is a favorite.  When I hear 'hip hop" songs I still think of different moves that I could choreograph to the music.

New Fall Picks + Styling Scarves for Fall

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Here is round up of a some new fall arrivals and sales.  I am starting to find some fall sweaters I would like to buy  - like this one and this one.  Also, I would really like to buy these boots.

Yesterday, I had the best day. I spent it with my mom for a lunch date and some shopping.  We went to Five Guys for lunch (my favorite) and then did some shopping at TJ Maxx and Best Buy.  I was looking for some decorations for my new bookshelf, and my mom wanted to get a Roku stick for her TV.  I have to say my mom is one stylish lady.  She looked so trendy in her look with these jeansthis quilted jacket, these sneakers, and tee.

5 Sweaters You Need for Fall

One of my favorite parts of fall is getting out my sweaters. I love a cozy sweater - and shopping for new sweaters.

Here are a few of my top picks for fall sweaters.

1. Leopard Cardigan
This fun printed leopard cardigan will dress up any look. It can be worn with jeans, a skirt or even a dress.  This sweater is another almost identical option for under $40.  Leopard looks great with so many colors, but I especially like it paired with black jeans and a off white tee/tank.

2. Chunky Turtleneck
This chunky monochromatic sweater would be perfect for a fall weekend.  I recently bought this chunky turtleneck sweater - and I love it!

3. Cozy Cardigan
This cozy cardigan would be perfect for layering over a tee and sitting around the house, plus it is under $50!

4. Bold Sweater
This bold colored sweater is the perfect fall color - and would make a statement, plus is comes in four other colors and is under $50.

5. Plaid Sweater/Poncho
I am not sure I would technically call this a sweater - more like a poncho - and it is under $50 and would be so fun for fall.

1. These short, block heel booties are now 50% off - totally on trend for fall, and great price!

2. Nordstrom now sells J. Crew; and, this is the cutest leopard print dress for under $100.  I love that Nordstrom sells J. Crew because there is free shipping both ways - and excellent Nordstrom customer service .

3. This cocoon sleeveless vest/cardigan would be a great layering piece for fall.  It is a little oversized, which just on trend, especially after looking at the upcoming spring 2017 trends from #nyfw.  Also, it is on sale and a great price!

4. Hallmark just released it upcoming Christmas movie season line-up - and it is going to be starting at the end of October.  I love cheesy Christmas movies.  My husband makes fun of me all the time for it - but to me they are heartwarming and relaxing to watch. Some of my favorite include this one (I have watched it so many times) and this one.

5. Lastly, with fall comes fall soups.  I just found these 16 slow cooker recipes.  What is more perfect than throwing all the ingredients in a slow cooker and a few hours later having a yummy fall soup to eat.

THREE FALL THINGS TO ADD TO YOUR HOME OR CLOSET
1. Fall is my favorite time of year - I love the smell in the air and the cooler temps.  I always get excited about fall decorations.  I have been looking for some simple (and affordable) decorations for fall, like this pumpkin trivet (for hot pans) - which is only $15.  It would also be perfect for Thanksgiving.  Or this doormat - which would also be very fitting for Thanksgiving or really anytime of year.  A few more possible all year-round decorations (and a little more pricey) are these decorative bowls and these fun leaf table decorations.

2. With the cooler temps - an easy way to add a little color and a layer of warmth to any look is with a plaid scarf. It can be layered over a simple tee and with a denim jacket. This plaid scarf is only $25 - and is a great deal!

3. Check out these booties which are 50% off right now. They are the popular bootie trend. They come in burgundy (one of the most rich and trendy fall colors), tan (most popular bootie color), and a chocolate brown.

GIVEAWAY TIME
Just a reminder that we are hosting a $150 Gift Card giveaway on The Blended Blog this week.
