I have been seeing more white jeans paired with a beige sweater this late fall/early winter season.  It makes me want to get out my white jeans.  

My encouraging words for today...

You may have heard the saying: “Your attitude determines your altitude.” In other words, a positive attitude will cause you to “fly high” in life, while a negative attitude will keep you down. Just as pilots have certain rules to follow to keep planes oriented, with the right attitudes and altitudes, I want to share a few rules you can follow in life to help keep your attitude positive so you can keep your “altitude” where it should be.

Rule #1: Maintain the right attitude when the going gets rough. No matter what happens to you, determine to go through it with the right attitude. In fact, determine beforehand that you will keep a positive attitude in the midst of every negative situation that presents itself to you.

These are three of my favorite looks I have put together over the years to answer the question - what to wear to a Christmas party?  I love the burgundy velvet blazer look - but I also like the faux fur leopard one.  And, I know a lot of you like the pleated red skirt paired with that grey leopard coat.

My encouragement for those anxious moments, days, situations...

Anxiety also means to take thought or being “… apprehensive, or worried about what may happen; concern about a possible future event.” The Lord once told me, “Anxiety is caused by trying to mentally and emotionally get into things that are not here yet or things that have already been” — mentally leaving where you are and getting into an area of the past or the future.

Philippians 4: 4, 6, 7: Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Twice in this passage the apostle Paul tells us to rejoice. He urges us not to fret or have any anxiety about anything but to pray and give thanks to God in everything — not after everything is over. If we wait until everything is perfect before rejoicing and giving thanks, we won’t have much fun. Learning to enjoy life even in the midst of trying circumstances is one way we develop spiritual maturity.

Are you ready for Thanksgiving week - and all the shopping deals?  It seems like the deals just keep starting earlier and earlier.

Today starts the big buy more - save more sale.  It is a great time to stock up on those items that rarely go on sale.  I have been thinking about these boots.  They are currently 30% off plus an additional savings depending on how much I buy.

I have been doing a little Christmas shopping - and putting together "my list".  This year - new ice skates - are on my list.  I went shopping for new skates yesterday.  I have mentioned this before but one of my favorite childhood memories is ice skating.  I skated on a national synchronized team that traveled the US and Canada.  Starting at age 10, I started traveling on the weekends to compete.  It is one of my best memories - and one I am very thankful that my parents supported me - and allowed me to do. 

Recently, I decided that I wanted to start ice skating more. They offer lunch time skating at a rink near me - so it is a great time to get some exercise and get away from work for a bit.  The only problem, I think my feet have slightly grown (making my skates very uncomfortable - like wearing too small of shoes), and my wonderful blades have exhausted their times of sharpening - so it is time to invest in some new (more comfy) skates and blades.  One thing people may not know is that you typically buy the boot and the blade separately.  You find a boot that fits your foot (or if you are really competitive you have one custom made that is molded and made specifically to your foot). Once you have a boot, then you buy a blade that matches your skating level and what you plan to use it for.  The combo is an investment - so that is why I am taking my time to pick out just the right boot - and the shop is ordering in some more boots for me to try.

I am pretty excited for this Christmas gift...  And, I can't wait to use them!

Sweaters on My Wish List

If you have followed my blog very long - you may have noticed that I LOVE sweaters.  I live in sweaters all fall, winter, summer, and spring... pretty much all the seasons.  I love cozy, chunky sweaters in the winter.  And, most recently I have been on the hunt for a retro hand knit fair isle sweater - like this one or this one.  I am still looking - and have not found one - if anyone knows of any place that sells them - let me know.
