It's Thursday - and we are in the middle of a snow storm.  It took a long time for winter to show-up, but the past two weeks it is definitely winter.

My encouragement for today.

I think we can all relate to those times of "brokenness" in our lives.  When we do not understand what is happening and we wonder why there is pain and struggles in our life.  Tomorrow is Valentine's Day - which is supposed to be a day of love and all things happy - but for some it is a time filled with loss, heartache, pain, hurt...

My encouragement today is if you are going through a rough time to look at the situation from God's perspective - what is it's purpose - what can you learn from it - how can you grow...

"God breaks us to mature us. Spiritual growth has three aspects: change, growth, and brokenness... If we are to change and grow, we must be willing to move away from what has been holding us back, pushing us down, or keeping us from being in a position to receive God’s best. We must be willing to give up our hold on the things to which we have been clinging with all our might. This often requires being broken."

There are some great winter sales - like my favorite suede ankle booties that are on sale for under $50 - or these scrunchy boots for 70% off.

Yesterday was my first day back to work since December 19th - and I survived!  I truly enjoyed my extended time off from work.  It was so nice to relax and not feel the pressures of work - or the commute!

This brings me to my encouraging thought for today - all about our attitude.  Something I continue to work on is my attitude and outlook on life and different situations.  Our mind and what we think is a powerful thing.  This is a quote from the book - Battlefield of the Mind

For many years I really believed that I was unhappy because of things others were doing or not doing... I finally faced the truth, which was that none of these things had to make me unhappy if I chose to have the right attitude. My thoughts were what was making me miserable. Are you ready for Thanksgiving week - and all the shopping deals?  It seems like the deals just keep starting earlier and earlier.

Today starts the big buy more - save more sale.  It is a great time to stock up on those items that rarely go on sale.  I have been thinking about these boots.  They are currently 30% off plus an additional savings depending on how much I buy.

I have been doing a little Christmas shopping - and putting together "my list".  This year - new ice skates - are on my list.  I went shopping for new skates yesterday.  I have mentioned this before but one of my favorite childhood memories is ice skating.  I skated on a national synchronized team that traveled the US and Canada.  Starting at age 10, I started traveling on the weekends to compete.  It is one of my best memories - and one I am very thankful that my parents supported me - and allowed me to do. 

Recently, I decided that I wanted to start ice skating more. They offer lunch time skating at a rink near me - so it is a great time to get some exercise and get away from work for a bit.  The only problem, I think my feet have slightly grown (making my skates very uncomfortable - like wearing too small of shoes), and my wonderful blades have exhausted their times of sharpening - so it is time to invest in some new (more comfy) skates and blades.  One thing people may not know is that you typically buy the boot and the blade separately.  You find a boot that fits your foot (or if you are really competitive you have one custom made that is molded and made specifically to your foot). Once you have a boot, then you buy a blade that matches your skating level and what you plan to use it for.  The combo is an investment - so that is why I am taking my time to pick out just the right boot - and the shop is ordering in some more boots for me to try.

I am pretty excited for this Christmas gift...  And, I can't wait to use them!

This is a big day!  The Rachel Parcell collection at Nordstrom is live to shop.  There are so many beautiful dresses for spring and Easter.  I have picked out a few of my favorites.  I love the white lace dress and the yellow smocked waist dress.  They are selling out quickly - so if you like them, act fast - and order multiple sizes if unsure.  As usual, Nordstrom offers free shipping both ways - so there is no risk in trying them.  I have followed Rachel for years - and it is proof of having a dream - and pursing it - and believing that you can do what you have the drive to do.

Today, also starts the big spring sale at Shopbop - almost the entire site is up to 25% off, with a few exceptions.  My FAVORITE white jeans are on sale.  I have tried so many white jeans - and these are by far the best in my opinion.  They are flattering and not too thin.  There is nothing worse than "thin" white jeans.  I have also picked out a lot of great items - some of which are already on sale, plus an additional savings.  The sale ends in two days - so shop now - for the best selection.
