NYFW Fall 2015 - Part 2

NYFW, Banana Republic, Marissa Webb,
 BANANA REPUBLIC: Fall 2015
This is the first time Banana Republic has shown at NYFW and this collection is definitely exciting.  I love so much about this collection and the new direction.  From the over-sized boyfriend coats, to the leather pieces, to the colors (the bold red, burgundy or Marsala - the color of the year, and the mint, which typically isn't my color).  I can't wait to shop!  Marissa Webb is the new creative director and executive vice president of design and her comment about the collection and direction of Banana Republic couldn't be more true -- "...it's the wearable but aspirational clothing..." JASON WU: Fall 2015
"Polished tailoring" is how I would sum up this collection.  That first look is so perfect.  It combines three of my favorite things: fur, olive green, and layering.  The collection incorporates crocodile and simple all black.  The waistlines on the pants appear to be moving up (thankfully), reminiscent of the 80s power look minus the shoulder pad jacket.  Overall the collection is clean and simple, which I really like.  Nothing too "wow" but a very wearable collection.

TRACY REESE : Fall 2015
This collection was referred to as the "urban warrior".  The first look is so fierce (the one on the right).  The collection is powerful, bold, sporty, and incorporates hints of the 70s, especially in the look on the left with the large zipper, skirt pockets, and those shoes and sunglasses. The fierceness continued with an all red look.  Red appears to be a recurring theme throughout the collections. (Note: I put a "red" look in the middle of each collection.)

NYFW trends, Prabal Gurung, fall 2015

PRABAL GURUNG : Fall 2015
What can I say... I love the big coats and those super sized funnel necks!  The overall collection looked like the perfect thing to wear in this frigid weather we have had.  I like how the coats on the left and right mixed different materials and textures, how the one on the left, pieced in the fur on a diagonal.  Also, the pattern in the mid region of the coat on the right is repeated in the fur along the bottom.  The movement of the materials and repeating patterns make for interesting coats. That orange-red in the middle is one of my favorite colors, and so happy to see it on the runway (and hopefully in the store next year!).

 Re-cap:
My overall takeaway - fur and red! Two trends that seem to be strong moving forward for the upcoming season, which I am totally okay with because I love this orange-red color (seen in the Prabal Gurung collection) and fur is just an extra cozy layer to add for frigid temps. By the way, yesterday, I mentioned how cold it was. Well, today/tonight we are supposed to hit record lows, up to 15 degrees below 0 (This is the actual temp, not wind chill). That's too cold! I am ready for spring (but I am not quite ready to give up my cozy sweaters and boots - it's a dilemma!)
