Pop of Yellow

SHOP THE LOOK
1. Shirt: Halogen // 2. Sweater: J. Crew // 3. Necklace: Bauble Bar
4. Lipliner: NARS (Jungle Red) // 5. Lipstick: NARS (Manhunt)
6. Boots: Via Spiga // 7. Handbag: Tory Burch // 8. Jeans: James Jeans (or here or budget here)

This is a look I wore the other day, and I got so many compliments.  I love this pop of yellow with the subtle camo.  I have liked the camo trend, but did not want any "loud" camo pants, and these are more subdued, which is perfect for me.  Plus, they were on super discount SALE!  Also, I bought some new lipstick and lipliner, and I love the bright red.  I had been looking for some new red lipstick, but I kept ending up with something that was too dark and more purple, or too orange.  This is just perfect!

If you have not entered the February Giveaway, be sure to enter - it ends on Monday!

Check back Monday, for another Giveaway!

Have a great weekend!  We have more snow headed our way, but I am going to try to get some photos done!

Capes

Shop the Look:
1. Cape: Asos // 2.  Lipstick: NARS // 3. Lipgloss: NARS
4. Belt: Old Navy (Similar here) // 5. Jeans: H&M
6. Tote: BP. (Only $48!) 7. Pumps: Louise et Cie

Styling Tips on How to Wear a Cape:
If you have noticed the cape/poncho trend is the "IT" thing.  I actually do not own a cape - yet.  I guess for one, I am not sure where I would wear it, and if it would look good on me.  It seems that it is too cold where I live to just wear a cape (maybe in the spring/fall it would work).  If I was to buy one (and I really like this pink plaid one), I would probably style it like Liz from Sequins & Stripes. (She is actually wearing a large scarf, made to look like a cape, which works.)  I like how she added a belt.  It adds definition at the waist, which is definitely more figure flattering.  Also, another trend is tying the belt, not actually wearing it how it was designed to work.  If you want to try the trend, the next time you buy a belt, buy it a few sizes bigger than you typically wear, and try tying it. (And, if you need help on how to tie a belt - here is a tutorial.) And, if you are not into the plaid capes, here is a great leopard one or this grid version or reversible one for only $23!

Also, aren't these pink mules cute?!?  (And, if you noticed, I really like this zip pencil skirt.  It is the same orange one in the monochromatic look from the other day.)

The Oscars are this weekend!  Are you excited? Do you typically watch them?  Any picks for best movie? Actor? Actress?

My favorite part of the Oscars has always been the Red Carpet.  This year, I will really miss Joan Rivers and Fashion Police and getting her comical take on the best and worst dressed.

As far as watching, I will be sitting on my piano chair in my comfy clothes, but if you are headed-out to a party, here are a few options - both dressy and casual.

Have a great weekend!

One last thing, I am linking up with my Style Me Bloggers - so be sure to check out their Oscar style.

NYFW Fall 2015 - Part 2

NYFW, Banana Republic, Marissa Webb,
 BANANA REPUBLIC: Fall 2015
This is the first time Banana Republic has shown at NYFW and this collection is definitely exciting.  I love so much about this collection and the new direction.  From the over-sized boyfriend coats, to the leather pieces, to the colors (the bold red, burgundy or Marsala - the color of the year, and the mint, which typically isn't my color).  I can't wait to shop!  Marissa Webb is the new creative director and executive vice president of design and her comment about the collection and direction of Banana Republic couldn't be more true -- "...it's the wearable but aspirational clothing..." (credit)

NYFW, Fall 2015, Jason Wu
JASON WU: Fall 2015
"Polished tailoring" is how I would sum up this collection.  That first look is so perfect.  It combines three of my favorite things: fur, olive green, and layering.  The collection incorporates crocodile and simple all black.  The waistlines on the pants appear to be moving up (thankfully), reminiscent of the 80s power look minus the shoulder pad jacket.  Overall the collection is clean and simple, which I really like.  Nothing too "wow" but a very wearable collection.

Tracy Reese, NYFW, Fall 2015
TRACY REESE : Fall 2015
This collection was referred to as the "urban warrior".  The first look is so fierce (the one on the right).  The collection is powerful, bold, sporty, and incorporates hints of the 70s, especially in the look on the left with the large zipper, skirt pockets, and those shoes and sunglasses. The fierceness continued with an all red look.  Red appears to be a recurring theme throughout the collections. (Note: I put a "red" look in the middle of each collection.)

NYFW trends, Prabal Gurung, fall 2015

PRABAL GURUNG : Fall 2015
What can I say... I love the big coats and those super sized funnel necks!  The overall collection looked like the perfect thing to wear in this frigid weather we have had.  I like how the coats on the left and right mixed different materials and textures, how the one on the left, pieced in the fur on a diagonal.  Also, the pattern in the mid region of the coat on the right is repeated in the fur along the bottom.  The movement of the materials and repeating patterns make for interesting coats. That orange-red in the middle is one of my favorite colors, and so happy to see it on the runway (and hopefully in the store next year!).

 Re-cap:
My overall takeaway - fur and red! Two trends that seem to be strong moving forward for the upcoming season, which I am totally okay with because I love this orange-red color (seen in the Prabal Gurung collection) and fur is just an extra cozy layer to add for frigid temps. By the way, yesterday, I mentioned how cold it was. Well, today/tonight we are supposed to hit record lows, up to 15 degrees below 0 (This is the actual temp, not wind chill). That's too cold! I am ready for spring (but I am not quite ready to give up my cozy sweaters and boots - it's a dilemma!)

NYFW Fall 2015 - Part 1

 NYFW : Fall 2015
A dream come true would be to attend NYFW or an even greater one would be to be a designer there, but for now, I enjoy looking at each of the collections online.  Fall shows are my favorite - I don’t particularly like the cold, but I love the clothes for colder weather (heavy sweaters, jackets, fur, boots).

NYFW, bcbg max azria, style blogger, fall 2015 trends

BCBG Max Azria : Fall 2015
The Fall 2015 BCBG Max Azria collection is one of my favorites so far (and we are only at the beginning of the week). I am so excited to see the mixing of leather, fur, embroidery, knit, quilting - all the things I like. I can’t wait to see how these trends funnel into the fall/winter trends for the upcoming years, and what merchants will put into the stores.

Shop Trends (on Sale!)
If you want to pick up some trends that seem to be staying for awhile and are on sale, here are some of my finds.

NYFW, coach, style blogger, fall 2015 trends

 COACH : Fall 2015
The Fall 2015 Coach collection is my winter style - big heavy, cozy coats! I love all the leather/suede coats and vests that are lined and trimmed like a shearling coat. Also, I like the chunky knits, deep v-neck sweater dress, and the yellow plaid. If you bought a v-neck sweater you are still on trend (and plaid does not seem to be going anywhere soon either.) In both this collection and the Tome collection, I noticed the repeated idea of an A-line silhouette with an inverted pleat and square pockets at the waistline.

Shop Trends (on sale!) (A few coats are under $70.)

NYFW, bcbg max azria, style blogger, fall 2015 trends, tome

TOME : Fall 2015
In the TOME collection, I love the patent leather (or vinyl), the bold orange and yellow, the pop of turquoise in the shoes, the large over-sized cocoon coat, and the short collared jacket with the front pockets. It appears that layering and pattern mixing will continue as a fall trend, which I am glad for in colder weather. This collection also presents the mixing of textiles - from the light sheer materials to the more rigid shiny patent. I love the square zippered pockets seen throughout the collection.

Shop Trends (on sale!)

So, far I am enjoying the collections, and I look forward to the rest that is to come!

Have a great weekend!

Dream Home Inspiration

This all white kitchen with mixed gold and silver accents, along with the red knobs, marble, and leopard inspired the following three white looks, which are perfect for this late winter season (and spring).

{Talking about the picture above -- Don't you love this kitchen?  My dream would be to own four homes - an all white house with a large porch (located on Martha's Vineyard), a rustic exposed beam, A-frame in the mountains out west, a modern loft apartment in NYC (preferably West Village), and a craftsman home.  Do you have a favorite style/location for a dream home?

Anyway back to fashion... here are three looks inspired by this kitchen (and if you are looking for a Tory Burch bag - this one is almost $200 off!)...
