FIVE TIPS WHEN THINGS DO NOT GO YOUR WAY
I shared an uplifting (non-fashion related) post over on The Blended Blog this past Monday.  If you need some encouragement - and feel like you are in the middle of trials or just feel like things are not going the way you had hoped - you may want to check it out.

FIVE MOST POPULAR ITEMS
These $25 suede ankle booties - that can be worn all year.

These wedge espadrilles that cost a fraction of the ones you see all the bloggers wearing.

My favorite lace up sandals - that are under $50.

This $10 satin blouse.

FIVE THINGS I BOUGHT IN MARCH
I can't believe this is the last day of March. Here is what I bought this month.

I love Nike sneakers - so I bought this pair.  I also really like these.  I am now ready for spring/summer walks - all I need is the weather to cooperate (and stop raining/snowing).

I bought this cute ruffle cuff sweater during the additional 40% off sale. (Sizing note: I sized up 1 size and it fits perfectly.)

LOFT blouses are one of my favorites - and I really like this yellow/gold ruffle blouse.

I re-stocked on my favorite lip gloss and mascara.  (And, one of my favorite products that has helped take care of my chapped, cracked lips is this product - I highly recommend it.)

This save vs. splurge post feels a little "last year" - since serenity (blue) and rose quartz (pink) were everywhere - as the 2016 Pantone colors of the year.

So, a little reflection on this post.  This is how things work out.  I had planned for today’s post neutral colors - like yesterday’s post. But when I just kept seeing more look alike items that were all the pink/blue shades (and not neutral colors) - I just went with it.  It is kind of like life.  Sometimes the best plans - get changed.   It is how you react to the change.  You can force something - and keep trying to make it work (like I could of with this post in neutral colors) or just go with a change in direction.  I went with the new direction - and I really like how it turned out.  And, that is how life can be - if you allow for a change - and don't stay with the original plan - you may be pleasantly surprised.

One thing you might not know about me is that when I was younger I was a competitive ice skater.  I was on a synchronized ice skating team that traveled the US and Canada.  I started traveling to competitions at age 10 - and was one of the youngest of the group of a lot of high school girls, and even college. (These girls had a big influence on music taste - from Beastie Boys, Prince, to Bon Jovi.  There was always music playing in the back of the bus!)  It was an amazing experience - one I am so thankful that my parents allowed me to do.

When I decided to style a graphic tee paired with a blazer (because it is a trend that still seems to be going strong), I picked the John Lennon tee because it reminded me of ice skating.  Along with skating competitively, I also skated for several years in a "Disney on Ice" type production.  It was huge theatrical production with full-out chorus-line costumes, and featured skaters like Scott Hamilton (back in the day when he won the Olympics). The association with John Lennon is because one of the performers skated to his song Imagine - and I will probably forever associate that song with the show.

For me, I love wearing a classic blazer with a tee and jeans, I just have not tried swapping out my basic tee with a graphic one - but it would be really simple.  If you are like me, and might not wear the “rocker” boots with the look - you could easily wear pumps (which I typically do), flats or even sneakers.

Create a Staple Spring Wardrobe with Pastels

online stylist, spring outfit, shopping guide
As I mentioned before, one of the reasons I started this blog was to find a way to work as a "stylist" - to help others put together outfits.  Over the years, my blog has evolved, and I have realized that one of the things I love to do is put together outfits.  In creating outfits, I like to find ways to maximize what people own and help them strategically shop - for both the best deals and pieces that can be worn many different ways.

A few weeks ago, I shared a bright and colorful 15 pieces, and today, I am sharing a more pastel ones - with pinks, whites, and light greys.  I have built this collection around staple pieces like basic tees and skinny jeans.  I also added in a few trends like ruffles and girlfriend jeans.  In creating this staple 15 piece pastel spring wardrobe, I have tried to be budget-conscious by using pieces you might already have in your closet (like tees and jeans) - along with finding items that are under $50 (and a lot under $25) - and including only one item that is more expensive, which is these booties; however, I think these would be a staple that would get a lot of wear for the price.  Also, I did not include accessories like bags or sunglasses - but I shared some sunglasses under $12 and bags under $25 in this post, that would work perfectly with this color theme.

 15 DAY OF OUTFITS

I really love this feminine, pastel palette.  And, I am already planning my next 15 piece wardrobe - that will pull in a lot of these pieces - but use a different color/pattern theme.

Happy Saturday!  Classic black and white is always in style and has become a staple in my wardrobe for years now.

DEALS & FINDS TO CHECK OUT
I can’t believe this rib knit dress is only $10 - and it comes two colors.  The price was too good - so I actually I bought in both colors (And a little secret - if you are self-conscious wearing knit dresses like me, I typically wear these under the dress. They smooth everything out - and make me feel a lot more comfortable.)

If you need a strapless dress now (or even in the future) - this one is only $15.

This pretty pink coat that I featured in this post is marked down to under $25 - and it also comes in black and khaki green.

My favorite mascara (that people ask about) is marked down 15% right now - and in addition to black comes in fun colors like green and blue.

Fiery red is one of my favorite colors to wear - and this blouse with gathered bell sleeves is only $25.  It also comes in powder pink and floral.

Also, I wanted to mention this ruffle sleeve sweater I bought last week - it is under $40 and so cute! (I sized up one size - it ran a little small on me.)

cheap sunglasses, cheap designer bags

7. Backpack: H&M // 8. Clutch: Sondra Roberts*
9. Shopper: H&M  // 10. Shopper: H&M

I am amazed by how many designer look alike sunglasses there are at Nordstrom for under $25 (and a lot of them are only $12).  The off white/blush sunglasses seem to be the big trend right now, so I have selected a few to show (and all of them are $12 and under) - but there are a lot more in the traditional black and brown frames, too.  And, one of the main reasons I shop at Nordstrom is because of the free shipping both ways - there is no risk in trying something.

(*When I put the collage together, I thought this was under $25 - and now I notice it is actually $48.)

MORE DEALS
This floral satin baseball cap is only $13.

This mini tassel pleated scarf is $12.

These crystal/diamond stud earrings are $10.  And, this pretty set of 3 is $16.

GREEN INSPIRED OUTFIT IDEAS

Leopard Coat and Pink Sweater Look

Source: Leopard

 SHOP THE LOOK
1. Leopard Jacket: H&M (Only $40) (Similar here) // 2. Sunglasses: H&M ($10)
3. Lipgloss: YSL // 4. Sweater: H&M (Only $25)
5. Camera Bag: J. Crew // 6. Link Bracelet: Ralph Lauren (Extra 30% off)
7. Jeans: H&M (Only $10 - and other colors) // 8. Chunky Heel Pumps: Nine West

As you may have noticed, leopard is really one of my favorite things.  One reason is that it can be styled so many different ways - with many different colors (like red, grey/black, and bright pink) and even patterns (like stripes). I thought I liked some of the other looks the most - but I really love this one!

MORE PINK & LEOPARD
I these pink bow top mules are so cute and they also come in black.

I am tempted to try these leopard sneakers, since they are only $45 - and a lot cheaper than these that I would really love to have. (You can also find them here.)

This is a cute sweater with a bow in the back.

Looking for some slip on leopard sneakers - these are great price.

These dressy slip on suede mules would look great this summer with skinny jeans and an off the shoulder top.

This leopard scarf is a good deal - and could be worn with a simple white tee.

Looking for a leopard clutch (but for a lot less than the Clare V. one) - this one is very similar and a great price. Or this smaller option for $10.

This scarf is similar to the one in the picture above - and it is sheer and would be light for spring.

If you are like me and like pretty stationary - check this note set out.

If you like to wear baseball caps, this leopard one is under $30.

I have shared this leopard calf hair bag before - but I had to again because it is 40% off.

And, this is not exactly pink (but grey) and it is the cutest bag that is $23 - and I wanted to share it before it sold out.

Casual Day to Night Spring Outfit

SHOP THE LOOKS
1. V-Neck Tee: H&M (Only $13) // 2. Girlfriend Jeans: H&M // 3. Sunglasses: H&M
4. Ring: Nadri // 5. Suede Loafers: H&M // 6. Ruffle Sleeve Blouse: H&M (Under $30)
7. Skinny Jeans: H&M (Only $20) // 8. Loafers: H&M (Only $30)
9. Sunglasses: H&M // 10. Rings: H&M ($6)

Pink is not a color I would have worn a few years ago - I just did not consider myself a pink person.  I wore it when I was younger - but when I transitioned into wearing more black, pink just became a color that I did not buy.  Now, I am slowly starting to buy a few more pink pieces.  As I look for more pink, I have found these cute tops above and these 2-in-1 pink loafers.  What is great about these flats is that they are really two shoes in one because they can be worn as loafers or as mules with the back folded down.  And, as far as pink items in my closet, I just picked up this pale pink sweater - and I love it!  It looks a lot more expensive than in cost.

WHAT I BOUGHT
With all the great sales, this past weekend, this is what I picked up.

This shirt dress that I styled on Friday.  I also thought about buying this look alike David Yurman bracelet - but I haven't yet.

I bought another jersey turtleneck - that has been marked down 40%.  This is my second one because I wear it so much.  I style it with these jeans, my over the knee boots, this belt (my Gucci look alike) and moto jacket.  (In case the one I like is sold out - this one is very similar and I have it, too.)

This sweater that I have watched for a long time that is now 40% off.

I really thought about buying these lace up sandals that are under $50 - but I have not bought them yet.  Right now, they are in my cart.

These are the cutest wedge sandals - and they come in 3 fun colors -and are under $60. I love the pink ones - but the black or cognac may be more practical.

I can’t believe this pink and white checked top is only $13 (and free shipping).

This top is called paradise blouse and it looks just like that, plus it is 40% off right now.

This cute mini camera bag is 50% off.

This flared, ruffle striped sweater is so cute - makes me think of St. Patrick’s day or Notre Dame.

This sweater is only $32 on sale - and I love the flared ruffle cuff.

I have this utility blouse in a lot of colors - and patterns, and it is one of my favorites.  Right now it is on sale for as low as $10.

This popular quilted cross body bag is 35% off.  If you want a Gucci/Chanel looking bag for less - check it out.

I really like these ruffle shoulder/sleeve tops - this one is the richest color - that could be worn now and in the fall.

Right now they are having 40% off jeans, but I wanted to share this cute floral ruffle dress - that I just might get.

I have mentioned these earrings before but you can get a set of two for as low as $10.

Lastly, just in case you missed it - I shared more deals yesterday.

Don't miss out on the free shipping at H&M this weekend, along with 50% off at Banana Republic.
