THREE BEST REASONS FOR NOT SHOPPING

I have recently gone on a shopping freeze. I realized I was spending way too much time on shopping - and not getting a lot lasting enjoyment out of the clothes.  I thought I would share my three best reasons for not shopping. I have only done this for a short time - but so far it has been great.  I would love to know your thoughts - so please share.

1. Excitement

I am actually excited to wear what is in my closet.  I have items that I didn't get to wear a lot because I had a continual flow of new clothes coming in.  I was always trying to figure out what to wear - and how to mix in the new items.  And the funny thing, I would always find myself gravitating back to my favorite items - and re-wearing them - rather than wearing something new that I had bought.  Before my shopping freeze, I bought a couple new fall items - like these jeansboots, and jacket.  I have already worn the jeans a lot! And, they are a favorite.  I love styling them with these boots and these western boots.

2.  Extra Time + Less Frustration

I was spending way too much time returning clothes.  The time spent packaging them up and taking them to the shipping center - and then tracking the return and making sure it was credited correctly was taking away from enjoying life.  And, sometimes the packages got lost - and I spent way too much time tracking down returns, which got frustrating and time-consuming.

3. Saving Money

This is an obvious reason - but it is amazing how fast money can add up from shopping.  I have always tracked everything I bought - and kept an eye on how much I spend; however, adding up how much I spent each year - was a lot of money that could have been used for other things and saved money.  I looked at how often I was cleaning out my closet to make room for new clothes - and how much I was getting rid of continuously and it wasn't a good balance.

  1. I agree with all of these! I have new things in my closet that I've never worn too. I always seem to go back to my well worn favorites!

  2. I am hoping to get to that point where I can enjoy a shopping freeze. This year has been more of a building year for me; I am attempting to build a wardrobe I really love and I am FINALLY defining my style. That makes impulse shopping less of a temptation. Baby steps for me but they feel good!
