I am trying a "new" format to my looks. Isn't it funny how things evolve and re-cycle? When I first started this blog, I did more vertical layouts with text. In the last few years, I have gotten away from it to create square looks because they were easier to share on Instagram and also include in weekly link-ups.
I have wanted to get back to more vertical looks, so I am giving it a try again. I am actually going to try to create both. It isn't much extra work once I have all the pieces pulled together and cut out. We will see how it goes.
This sweater with side buttons and 40% off - comes in a fun pink (and classic navy).

I am breaking from my traditional neutral colors - and styling a bold look today. Red is a color I tend to not wear. Although, recently I got this red sweater (which is only $15) for Christmas - and I love wearing it! I typically style my red sweater with black jeans and my cognac brown hiking boots; however, I thought it would be fun to style it with leopard. Snake print has been having its moment recently; however, leopard print is always classic, and it looks great styled with red. Also, it's Valentine's Day in a few weeks - and this look would be perfect!
The red sweater I featured above I actually own in off white - and I love it! Currently, it is an extra 60% off the sale price - and a great deal.
I love my leopard skirt - and this one is only $25.

This monochromatic red outfit is still one of my favorites. I love the idea of wearing the same color for the entire look. This is definitely a chic and versatile workwear outfit. Each of the pieces can be worn together for this look, or broken apart and worn as separates with other items in your closet. The red sweater could be worn with jeans and leopard print shoes. And, the red pants could be paired with a denim shirt and leopard shoes.
Also, today I am joining my friends at The Blended Blog to answer some shopping questions.
And, don't miss all of my great finds and deals at the end of the post!
1. My three favorite shops
My top shops would probably be Nordstromand Nordstrom Rack, and tied for third - Old Navy, J. Crew and H&M, and Shopbop. I know that is more than three - but Nordstrom is where I do the majority of my shopping.
2. Online or in store
I shop mostly online. It is funny how times change. Growing up - going to the mall was a weekly event for me. My mom and I were always going to the mall. Now, I do not remember the last time I went to the mall.
3. Favorite thing to shop for
This would be a tie - shoes/boots, jackets and sweaters.
4. Favorite thing you ever bought
I have a lot of favorites - and they are mostly my investment pieces - like my hiking bootsand over the knee boots. I also love my pink leather jacket I got at J. Crew.
5. Shop alone or with someone/group
I love shopping with my mom - she is probably my favorite person to shop with, and my husband, but we mostly shop for him when shopping. Other than that, I really prefer to shop alone; however, it is fun to shop with my friends - if it is social event. If I am really focused on buying/needing to find something - I prefer to tackle shopping alone.
6. Thrift store shopping
Thrift stores overwhelm me. For some reason, the lack of multiple pieces of the same item - is too much for my brain - and I get overwhelmed!
7. Style or fashion icon
Funny how times change, years ago my fashion icon was Jennifer Aniston and Olivia Palermo. Now, I have really started to follow fashion bloggers - and they have become my style icons - like Rachel Parcell (Pink Peonies), Lauren Kay Sims, Sasha Simon (LolaRio Style), and Kathleen Post (Lemon Blond)- to name a few.
Did anyone else love this day when they were a kid? It was one of my favorite "school" holidays. For our Valentine's Day classroom party, we would all decorate our own "mailbox" with hearts and wrapping paper. Then everyone in the class would "mail" a Valentine card to our classmates. I always had so much fun opening up each card from a fellow classmate. I "loved" the day. Mostly because I loved craft projects, like making the fun mailbox. But, also, probably because it was fun to see what boy sent me a cute card!
Anyway, with it being the day of all things red and pink, I thought I would share these red sweater outfits. These looks show how to style and accessorize a bold red sweater. My favorite is mixing leopard with the red, but I also love denim on denim with the addition of the white shoes. And, right now, white booties and pumps, or any white shoe is very popular!
In keeping with the red theme this week, and how much I love my new red sweater, I thought I would re-create this look. I love how casually chic it is - and how simple it is to put together. All you need is black denim, red sweater, and chambray shirt. And, if you don’t have a red bag - this one is only $30. This layered look is perfect for spring. And, if it gets too warm, you can easily tie the chambray shirt around your waist. Also, I don’t know what I did before I got my Hunter boots. They are so easy to wear - and perfect when it is a torrential rain pour outside - no more soaked or ruined shoes. (Probably one of the worst rain storms I got stuck in was in NYC. I was so soaked that I ended up buying new clothes for the day - and I ruined a pair of leather loafers.)
