Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great weekend.  Today, I am sharing my $35 leopard puffer jacket.  It is a great light weight puffer jacket.  It is poly-fill and not down, and it washes up great.  I liked it so much I also bought it in white. If you are looking for a down version - I found this down-filled leopard vest.

MY DAILY FINDS & DEALS

These leopard booties are on sale for $43 (originally $120).

This striped sweater is on sale for 50% off.

This cardigan caught my eye - and would look great styled with leggings and combat boots.

I like this new classic sweater.

This leopard puffer vest.

This pretty winter white v-neck sweater for only $25 (also in a royal purple).

My favorite white booties are on sale for 65% off.

I love the color of this animal print sweater.

I like this après-ski sweater on sale for 30% off.

I own these snake print pumps that are on sale for $39.

I love a classic white belted coat - for only $60.

WHAT TO WATCH ON NETFLIX

Over the weekend, I watched the movie The Social Dilemma on Netflix.  I know there is AI (artificial intelligence) at work behind the scenes in everything we do related to social media; however, when I watched the movie, it really hit me as to how we are being watched and in turn manipulated.  And, how this is influencing our society. There are really big ethical questions about what is being done - and how are actions are being "played" and "sold" for profit.

A few quotes for thought from the movie...

“We’re the product. Our attention is the product being sold to advertisers.” - Justin Rosenstein, former engineer Facebook and Google, co-founder of Asana‍

“We’ve created a world in which online connection has become primary. Especially for younger generations. And yet, in that world, anytime two people connect, the only way it’s financed is through a sneaky third person whose paying to manipulate those two people. So we’ve created an entire global generation of people who were raised within a context with the very meaning of communication, the very meaning of culture, is manipulation.” - Jaron Lainer, founding father of Virtual Reality Computer Scientist‍

“We’re training and conditioning a whole new generation of people that when we are uncomfortable or lonely or uncertain or afraid, we have a digital pacifier for ourselves. That is kind of atrophying our own ability to deal with that.” - Tristan Harris, former design ethicist at Google and co-founder of Centre for Humane Technologies

This all made me think even more at what I do as a digital influencer.  I want to be honest and true to who I am and what I share.  It has really started to bother me more and more about how we (as a society) are being "influenced" by influencers.  I know is it is a form of marketing - but it is on a much deeper level.  The level of trust the society puts on influencers - is a bit scary - if you really think about it.

  3. That leopard puffer is the best! Looks terrific on you!
I agree with you, the whole influencer thing is scary. It cannot be turned off, we watch IG stories all day long so we know exactly what everyone is doing. I think for many, they try to emulate or become that influencer and that is very scary!
